About Ted Fountain
Artisan To say that I’ve been working with wood since I was child is quite true. It was there in my grandfather’s shop that I found myself spending my time, watching him work. Since my own home was right next door, i would walk on home for lunch only to find myself distracted by my own fathers work, and asking questions. This than led me to pursuer a lifelong career in fine woodworking. I took up a position at a fine furniture company not far from where I grew up in Southern Massachusetts. There I spent the next 5 years as a bench cabinet maker, learning the fine art of 18th century furniture making. The skills I learned as a boy came to life there. I learned it takes a keen eye and the experience of a skilled craftsman to discern the grain of beautiful piece of curly maple, or to hand turn a spindle on a lathe. From there I moved on to small shop in Maine where I studied many new forms of furniture. I however was not content to labor for someone else’s designs. So in 2003 I opened up shop, in the quite village of New Boston, New Hampshire. I pass these years of experience on to my customers. To deliver the quality craftsmanship they seek. |
